I just stumbled upon this lovely website, aptly named Showstudio, where you can buy props from various photo shoots and fashion shows. How cool is that? I love looking at oddities, (even if the prices are a bit outrageous. My faves below-

Inspired by the Boyfriend Jean and Boyfriend Tee, comes the Boyfriend Blazer. I love the versality! The blazer has the ability to dress anything up! Which is why, this is a must have for my fall wardrobe. Plus, this trend isn’t going away anytime soon, designers, such as Charlotte Ronson are still featuring the blazer on the Spring 2010 runways.
Two keys to pulling the look off successfully? 1. Buy a size bigger. It’s supposed to look like its your “boyfriend’s” 2. Roll up those sleeves. It helps accentuate the shoulders and gives the blazer a more feminine look.
So, here are a few boyfriend blazers, I have collected from around the web. Ranging in price, too!
Ok, so call me obsessed, but I am seriously lovin’ Luella’s S/S 2010 collection. I would LOVE to work at Luella one day, then I could live in Paris!!! Hey, one can dream, no?
Anyway, just when I thought I had completely outgrown my polka dot phase from years ago, Luella comes along and makes me reconsider. Le sigh.
As if the idea of a roadtrip isn’t alluring enough, I recently found a neat little vintage store located in Nashville, that I am dying to go to. The store is called Venus and Mars and it is owned by Jack White’s (yes, Jack White, White Stripes and Raconteurs) wife and model, Karen Elson, who also just happens to be on the cover of the new issue of Lula Magazine.
The store is described as a shop “where customers could find a great 1960s mini dress for $30 on the downstairs racks, or drop a few hundred dollars on a special-occasion splurge, like a 1940s Christian Dior dress.”
The pictures alone make me think that I may spend a good chunk of change there if I were to visit. Hmmm…now that i think about it, Nashville is only about a four hour drive and i’m getting ready to have a month’s vacation. So stay tuned!!
I could go on and on posting about all my favorite looks from the collections at New York fashion week. However for this post, I decided to only post some highlights from multiple collections, so that there aren’t a million pictures to look at. Although Marc Jacobs has remained my favorite, I really loved Diane Von Furstenberg’s collection, as well as Anna Sui’s (it seemed very reminiscent of her diffusion line with Target). Some other of my favorites included Phillip Lim, Thakoon and Erin Fetherston. Anyway enjoy some of my faves below.
Ok, so im a little behind, because I have been so busy with school, but I did want to show some of the highlights (at least, for me) of New York fashion week. So, I will begin with some pictures from the Marc by Marc Jacobs show. I loved practically every piece from this collection, seriously, I was practically drooling over every outfit. As a whole, I am a big fan of Marc Jacob’s lower priced, hipper line. This Marc Jacob’s collection was inspired by African prints, bunny bows, neon and forties by the way of eighties jackets.
Personally, I loved all the colors, the mismatched prints (especially, because I am a sucker for plaids). I adored the bows and loved the silhouette of the pants and jumpsuits. Below are some of my favorite picks.
I recently came across SSSSOUND!, a cute music blog with an interesting array of tunes. I am having lots of fun listening to the music she’s featured, especially a gem she shares titled Something a la Mode featuring Karl Lagerfeld.
This song was originally featured at a Chanel show in Venice and now you can hear it here.
There’s something funny yet entertaining about hearing Karl Lagerfeld’s voice, dubbed over techno music. Hmm….. i would be lying if i were to say i hadn’t listened to this song, more than once.
Labor day has come and gone. The weather is finally changing and i’ve been lovin’ the recent temperature drop here in Atlanta.
As a kid, Summer was always my favorite season, but as a grown up, I think that has changed. I’d have to say that Fall, is now my favorite. Lightning bugs, cooler temperatures, wearing colored tights under cute dresses, layering and pumpkin flavored coffee and donuts…I could go on.
While the first official day of Fall isn’t until September 22nd, I’m already in the mood for the fall fashion season. But don’t worry, you still have a few more days to enjoy your summer. And if your feeling a little down about Summer’s departure, why not get inspired and enjoy some of these Proenza Schouler looks.
I love the colors and the layering. Genius! I know this is from the Pre-Fall 2009 collection, but I think it works perfectly for right now.
Tomorrow, I will be going to see the September Issue movie. I am a total nerd and have been awaiting its release for quite some time. Andre Leon Talley, Vogue Editor-at-Large (also on the S.C.A.D Board of Trustees) is featured in the movie.
I am hoping it is not a letdown. I watched Anna Wintour on David Letterman last week, and she doesn’t seem to come off as the ice queen everyone makes her out to be. For those of you who don’t know, The Devil Wears Prada, is based off of Anna Wintour and written by her former assistant.
I am so excited this movie comes out right before school starts up again (I need some motivating…) AND at the beginning of New York fashion week! Anyway, i’ll be sure to update with an opinion of the movie.
**UPDATE** The movie was great! It was a nicely done documentary. I’m not sure it was a must-see in the theaters, but definitely something fun to see on a weekend afternoon.
Moviegoers chuckled every time Andre Leon Talley spoke. I really wish I could sit around with Grace Coddington and chat over a cup of coffee. She seems like she’d be cool and have some entertaining stories.
Was anyone else surprised at Thakoon’s sketches? I love Thakoon, but really, what were those?
Overall, R.J. Cutler made a very interesting movie, but I can see the non-fashion obsessed getting bored easily.
I can’t wait! Next week, on September 14th Anna Sui’s, “Gossip Girl” influenced collection will be released in Target as part of their Go International line. There are 19 complete looks inspired by Blaire, Jenny, Serena and Vanessa.
I am always excited for Target’s Go International line, but have yet to buy anything besides a Paul & Joe owl purse, because I never seem to like anything when I see it in the store. I love Anna Sui and I can’t wait to see this line. Hopefully it’s fabulous.
